Speaker : Prof. Dae Young KIM, PhD. Chair of ICACT2016 TPC
Dae Young KIM obtained his bachelor degree from Seoul National University and his master and Ph. D. degrees from KAIST, in 1975, 1977, and 1983, respectively. He worked with Chungnam National University from 1983 till 2015, and is currently retired and independent. With more than 250 technical papers published, he was also active in research network communities and international standardizations and served as chair of APAN(Asia-Pacific Advanced Network) and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 6. His research interest is Future Internet.
Abstract : In order to gain insight in the design of a future Internet archicture, the tutorial invites the audience to the classic topic of naming and addressing which is the starting point in any attempts to design a new network architecture. The biblical notions asserted by Saltz in late 70s is revisited and arguments are developed to reduce the number of network elements to be named to the effect of simpifying the task of network design. The tutorial then explores various ways to execute routing in a network thus designed and discusses considerations for secure networking.
