Suppose the attack scenario is changed. For example, malware attack instead of DoS attack occurs, then does it require to modify significant simulation environment or only small setting in the framework is changed enough? Thank you so much for your question. My answer to it is that this paper only models two kinds of cyber-attacks (DoS attack and data tampering attack), and the model base will be expanded on this basis in the future. That is to say, the malware attack you mentioned cannot be simulated at present.

First of all, thank you for the good research paper and presentation contents. I would like to know more about the research environment used in this study, and also in detail about the equipment & operating systems, development languages and software libraries you used. Thanks for your question. The research enviroment is a SDH self-healing network including 18 power stations. Half of the stations are Phasor Measurement Units, while the other half are not security and stability control devices. The equipment & operating system of QualNet is Ubuntu 12.04, and that of RTDS and DCAM panel is Win10 professional. The development language is C++. The software library contains Qt library and Microsoft C++ library.

Will you tell us what is the major achievement of this paper, and also what is further study issue from this? Thanks in advance!! Thanks for your question.The major achievement of this paper is the dynamic cyber-attack approach proposed, which aims to solve the problem of adopting the script simulation rather than dynamic simulation in almost exsiting researches. In this approach, the cyber-attack can be loaded into the scenario in real time in the simulation process. And in the future, we will expand our model base of cyber-attacks and improve the noed capacity.

Firstly, the research on DoS attack detection is very meaningful. What is your experimental dataset? What problems does your research solve in the real environment? Thanks for your question. The experimental dataset used in this paper is provided by a power grid company in China which has cooperative relationship with us. And the approach proposed does help the staffs in the power grid field to see the impact of cyber-attacks on the power grid more intuitively, which is conducive to the correct start of protection measures.

How scalable is your proposed scheme? Can other attacks be introduced without major changes? Thanks for your question. At present, the scale of the scheme is 57 nodes according to the actual experimental test. If we want introduce other attacks, we have to first model them and put them on the platform, which actually is the future work of our team.

Dear Author, you have a very good research. Is there an existing technology almost similar to your proposal that has been deployed in real world environment? What does it lack that your work specifically addressed? Thank you and stay safe. Thanks for your question. There do exist some technologys similar to our proposal, but they are almost adopting script simulation, which means the scenario can only run once without modification during simulation. The approach proposed aims at the dynamic simulation. The impact of the attack on the power grid can be observed in real time, rather than assuming that the power grid has been attacked from the beginning.
